    New York University’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development and Wagner Graduate School of Public Service invites applications for a Professor in Public Policy and Economics to begin in September 2017 or 2018. The new faculty member will be appointed in the Steinhardt Department of Humanities and Social Sciences and the Wagner School.

    NYU Steinhardt has one-of-a-kind integration of education, communication, health, and the arts, with eleven departments, seventeen research centers and institutes, 292 full­time faculty, and close to 6,000 students. Its Department of Applied Statistics, Social Science, and Humanities offers graduate and undergraduate programs in fields such as Applied Statistics, Education and Social Policy, Education Studies, Sociology of Education, and International Education. NYU Wagner faculty and students conduct research that changes the way people frame, understand, analyze, and act on important public issues. It offers master’s degrees in Public Administration, Public Policy, and Urban Planning, and a PhD in Public Administration.     Position Description: We are seeking a highly successful senior scholar who, along with existing faculty, will strengthen our research and teaching in applied microeconomics. The candidate will help to maintain the strong link between Steinhardt and Wagner faculty and students, and may assume directorship of the Institute for Education and Social Policy (IESP). Interest area and field of specialization is open, although we are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in the economics of education, education policy, labor economics, public finance, and/or behavioral economics.

    Qualifications: Candidates must have an earned doctorate in economics or public policy, an extensive publication record in peer-reviewed outlets, a nationally recognized research program, and a record of success developing externally-funded research grants. The successful candidate should have strong communication skills as a classroom educator, a commitment to both undergraduate and graduate teaching, and a demonstrated record of teaching excellence.
