The Research School of Economics (RSE) is seeking to appoint a world leading early career researcher for a prestigious research-focused position, in the field of income distribution and inequality.

The John Mitchell Research Fellowship provides a very generous financial package, with flexibility to support a range of research activities including international scholarly engagement, conference hosting, purchase of data, hiring research assistance, local public outreach, or research development.

This is an exceptional opportunity for an economist who is passionate about contributing to a better understanding of the economic dimensions of income and wealth inequality, its causes, consequences and ramifications. The John Mitchell fellow will combine empirical analysis and economic theory to improve our understanding of the welfare and efficiency effects of inequality, engaging with governments here in Australia and overseas.

Applicants will be expected to have completed a PhD in economics and conduct applied economics research, particularly on issues pertaining to the unequal distribution of income and wealth. The appointment will be made at the relevant level according to skills and experience of the successful candidate.
