The Department of Economics at the University of Toronto Mississauga invites applications for a full-time teaching stream appointment in Economics at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream. This appointment will commence on July 1, 2017.
We seek enthusiastic and innovative individuals pursuing an award-winning career in university teaching with both the ability and ambition to enhance the domestic and international reputation of our undergraduate programs. Candidates must have earned a Ph.D. in Economics by the time of appointment or soon thereafter.
The successful candidate must present clear evidence of: an outstanding teaching record that features teaching innovation; the demonstrated capacity to expertly incorporate current research from at least two fields within economics into our undergraduate courses; and an aptitude for creative educational leadership at the level of courses, programs, the university, and beyond. In addition, the successful candidate must have the demonstrated capacity to adeptly teach our introductory statistics/applied econometrics sequence – an important undergraduate program requirement – and possess excellent expository, organizational, and interpersonal skills. At the application stage, the necessary evidence includes strong endorsements from referees, working papers or publications, and a creative, coherent and complete teaching dossier that highlights teaching accomplishments and any professional experience that may enhance teaching. A complete teaching dossier includes a teaching statement, course outlines, course evaluations, and select course materials that directly support and illustrate the teaching statement. Previous university teaching experience is preferred. Salary is to be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
