    Trent University Peterborough invites applications for a full-time Senior Lecturer position in the Department of Economics and School of Business. This is a probationary, teaching intensive appointment, commencing July 1, 2017. Consideration for permanency will occur in year 5 of the appointment. The starting salary is between $86,593 - $92,156. Please note that this position is subject to budgetary approval.

    Priority will be given first to applicants who have a completed Ph.D. degree Finance or Financial Economics and secondly to applicants with a Ph.D. in a related field. The successful candidate will teach courses in investments, derivatives, advanced financial management, financial economics, and managerial economics. We will also consider other related fields.

    We seek innovative individuals pursuing a career in university teaching. Candidates must have a demonstrated record of teaching excellence, have a strong ability to integrate both theory and practice through effective communication and presentation skills, stimulate and challenge the intellectual capacity of students, communicate effectively, and show a demonstrated mastery of his or her subject area. Experience and demonstrated commitment to excellent pedagogical practices and a demonstrated interest in teaching-related scholarly activity are also required. The teaching dossier submitted as part of the application should include strong endorsements by referees of high standing reflecting on both excellent teaching and evidence of commitment to pedagogical enquiry and teaching innovation. The successful applicant will be expected to develop a research program that is related to pedagogy in the discipline and to engage actively with the Trent University Centre for Teaching and Learning that is dedicated to promoting, and advancing teaching pedagogy, innovative course development, educational activities and work with external partners.

    Demonstrated experience teaching in Finance and Economics is required. The applicant should also be capable of teaching a range of courses, and contributing to the ongoing improvement in the curriculum.
