The Vancouver School of Economics at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver Campus The Vancouver School of Economics at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver Campus invites applications for a senior professorial position at the Associate Professor level, but strong candidates at the Assistant level may also be considered. Our priority fields are Development Economics and Political Economy, however truly exceptional candidates working outside these fields may be given consideration. Starting date: July 1, 2018. The successful candidate will be appointed to the rank appropriate to their level of experience. Positions are subject to final budgetary approval.
Qualifications for appointment at the Associate Professor level: The candidate must have a Ph.D., a distinguished international reputation, an outstanding record of publications in top-ranked journals, a proven record of excellence in teaching, and a track record of effective Ph.D. supervision. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active program of research, teaching, graduate supervision, and service. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Qualifications for appointment at the Assistant Professor level: The candidate must have a Ph.D. (or solid indication of imminent completion) in a relevant field, and demonstrate excellence or clear promise of excellence in teaching and in research. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active program of research, teaching, graduate supervision, and service. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Applications must include a c.v., evidence of teaching effectiveness, and samples of research papers. We encourage anyone who desires to include a one-page statement identifying their contribution, or potential contribution, to integrating consideration of diversity into their teaching practice, along with their ability to work with a culturally diverse student body. For applicants at the Associate Professor level, we require the names and contact information of at least 4 potential referees who can be contacted for a confidential evaluation of the applicant's work, should the applicant be shortlisted. For applicants at the Assistant Professor level, we require at least three confidential reference letters which must be submitted directly by the referees.
