About the position:
The Institute of Finance is looking for an Assistant Professor for a 3-year definite period (with a possibility for an extension), or on Associate Professor level it is a permanent position.
The starting date is the Autumn semester of 2025, but some flexibility is possible. Different schemes for tenure track can be offered in case of mutual satisfaction.

We are looking for research excellence in Finance. The ideal candidate has strong experience in teaching and has excellent communication skills. In the case of Associate Professors, we are especially looking for candidates with a proven record of leading successful grant applications.
They are interested in both theory and application and are open to cooperating with colleagues, students, and external partners.
The candidate will conduct independent research while concurrently contributing to the ongoing research activities and deliver lectures and courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
They will also deliver lectures in the field of Finance (e.g. Corporate Finance and/or Investments and/or Quantitative Finance, and/or Macro-Finance).
The teaching load requirement each semester, depending on the academic track (research-oriented or balanced between research and teaching):
- Assistant professor: 6x45 minutes a week or 12x45 minutes a week (for 12 weeks per semester).
- Associate professor: 5x45 minutes a week or 10x45 minutes a week (for 12 weeks per semester).
The research requirement for three years:
- Assistant professor: 1 published Q1 (according to SCImago ranking), and 2 working papers; plus 1 successful grant application for those on a research track.
- Associate professor: 2 published Q1 (according to SCImago ranking), and 2 working papers; plus 1 successful grant application (leadership position) for those on a research track.
Application criteria:
The successful candidate is holding (or is close to completing in the case of assistant professor applicants) a PhD in Finance/ Financial Mathematics/ Economics /Business and Management or related fields from an internationally recognised university.
We explicitly encourage international applications from the top 200 universities based on QS subject ranking (either the studies or any kind of experience (e.g. visiting position, academic position, etc.).
Knowledge of the Hungarian language is not required.
