Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute invites applications for two open-rank tenure/tenure-track faculty positions in the Department of Economics. The start date for the position is August 2019.

The department seeks candidates in the following areas: applied microeconomics; applied econometrics; behavioral economics; economics of innovation and technology; energy economics; international economics; and health economics.

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Economics (or expect to complete the degree by August 2019), evidence of effective teaching at the collegiate level, and a sustained program of high-quality research and publications. The candidate will teach undergraduate, M.S., and Ph.D. courses, and actively contribute to a vibrant interdisciplinary culture that spans Rensselaer's communities. A record of securing external funding is desirable. Candidates with sustained academic success who are eligible for tenure may be considered at the Associate or Full Professor level.

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, founded in 1824, is the nation’s oldest technological university. The university has approximately 7500 undergraduate and graduate students, and for more than a decade has been ranked among the U.S. News & World Report top 50 national universities.  Rensselaer is located in Troy, New York, adjacent to the state’s capital in the "Tech Valley" region. The Department of Economics includes faculty whose research interests currently span the economics of technological change and innovation, industrial organization, health economics, behavioral economics, financial economics, law and economics, applied econometrics, and big data analytics.
