The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia seeks established researchers with expertise in economics/econometrics and data science to join a machine learning group. Researchers will pursue independent research projects as well as develop novel machine learning methods and applications to study issues facing economic policymakers and regulators such as loan evaluation, payment system linkages, credit risk model evaluation forecasting, and solving nonlinear heterogeneous agent models. Prior experience in the analysis of unstructured data (e.g., NLP) is a plus. The Bank collects and maintains large proprietary data sets related to consumer finance and bank supervision, making it an excellent environment for someone with machine learning expertise. The position will afford the opportunity to assist in building a data science team within the Bank.

The successful candidate must have a track record of high-quality research and an established research agenda, as demonstrated by having had several articles published in top-tier academic journals. He or she must also possess superior writing and speaking skills.
