The University is seeking to appoint three full-time Associate Professors of Economics to start in the academic year 2018/19. The University of Oxford uses the grade of Associate Professor for most of its senior academic appointments. This grade is roughly equivalent to Associate Professor in the USA. Associate Professors are eligible for consideration through regular recognition of distinction exercises for award of the title of full Professor.

Each post is associated with a Tutorial Fellowship, at either Lady Margaret Hall, Merton College or St Edmund Hall. Duties will include undertaking independent research and securing funding to support the Department’s research activities, together with teaching and supervision responsibilities for the Department of Economics and the College, and Trustee duties (as a member of the Governing Body) at the College.

Applications are invited from candidates with a completed doctorate in Economics and postdoctoral experience in an academic position. Additionally, applicants should have a proven high standard of research and the ability to enthuse and inspire students at both undergraduate and graduate level through tutorials, classes, lectures, and supervision.

The Department and Colleges wish to encourage applicants with research and teaching interests in any field of economics. The Department would welcome applicants willing to teach Financial Economics or Financial Econometrics, but has teaching needs in all fields. The colleges require postholders to be willing to teach undergraduates as follows:

Merton College:  Macroeconomics at 1st and 2nd year undergraduate level;
St Edmund Hall: Quantitative Economics to 2
nd
 year undergraduates;
Lady Margaret Hall: Either Microeconomics, Macroeconomics or Quantitative Economics at 1st and 2nd year undergraduate level.

The appointment is for 5 years in the first instance, with reappointment to retirement upon completion of a successful review.

The Department and each college offer an exciting research and teaching environment, and an attractive financial package to the successful applicant.

Salary ranges between £47,263 - £63,463 p.a. plus additional benefits. Please refer to the Further Particulars for details of the wider benefits package offered by the University and each of the three colleges, including the annual research allowances.

Associate Professors who are awarded the title of full professor may receive from the University an additional salary payment of £2,754 p.a.

Interviews are expected to be held over two days; 26th and 27th November and shortlisted candidates are expected to be available over both days.

Closing date for applications is 12.00 noon (GMT) on 31st October 2018.

Candidates need only submit one application to be considered for all three positions, applications must be submitted on-line via Econjobmarket.
