The Vancouver School of Economics at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver Campus invites applications for a senior professorial position, primarily at the Associate Professor level, but we may also consider truly exceptional candidates for appointment at the level of (Full) Professor.  Our priority fields are International Trade, Environmental Economics and Macroeconomics; however, truly exceptional candidates working outside these fields may be given consideration.  Starting date: July 1, 2020.  The successful candidate will be appointed to the rank appropriate to their level of experience. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Candidates must have a Ph.D., a distinguished international reputation, an outstanding record of publications in top-ranked journals, a proven record of excellence in teaching, and a track record of effective Ph.D. supervision. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active program of research, teaching, graduate supervision, and service.  Candidates hired into tenured positions must be approved by the appropriate VSE Promotion and Tenure Committee and the university’s Senior Appointments Committee before the appointment can be tenured. The position is subject to final budgetary approval.

Applications must include:

- a c.v. which will include a publication record and links to current research papers
-a pdf version of the paper you plan to  present at a recruiting seminar
-evidence of teaching effectiveness (normally student evaluations of teaching)
-a one-page statement about your experience working with a diverse student body and your contributions or potential contributions to creating/advancing a culture of equity and inclusion.

We require the names and contact information of at least 4 potential referees who can be contacted for an evaluation of the applicant’s work, should the applicant be shortlisted.
