PROFESSOR OR ASSOCIATE / ASSISTANT PROFESSOR (TENURE TRACK) IN ECONOMICS

The post is positioned at the Department of Economics at Turku School of Economics, University of Turku.

The Department of Economics is one of the largest educators of economics in Finland. The priority of the department is to produce top-level scientific research on topics that are relevant to economic policy, societal decision-making and the design of markets. The department is profiled by strong expertise in economic theory, methods and empirical analysis. The department conducts experimental research and maintains the oldest experimental decision-making laboratory in Finland.

The post will be filled directly as a Professor for an indefinite period or through a tenure track system first as fixed-term employment periods as Assistant / Associate Professor.

For the post of Professor, a researcher of high international standard is sought. Tenure track –positions are meant for researchers who are pass the postdoc phase. When selecting a person for the Assistant Professor phase, especially academic potential and motivation for an academic career are taken into consideration. The tenure track Associate Professor phase is intended for a high-level researcher, whose qualifications indicate substantial scientific potential. The title and more detailed content of the position will be defined later according to the merits and the scientific career of the selected candidate.

The subfield of the position is not restricted, but preference is given to applicants, who have strong research merits in macroeconomics or microeconomic theory. It is regarded as an advantage to the applicant if he or she has expertise in the following subfields: finance, industrial organization or structural econometrics. The selected candidate is expected to teach and supervise in one of the following areas: macroeconomics, microeconomic theory, finance.

There will be a six-month trial period in this position.

The salary for the post is determined in accordance with the university salary system for teaching and research personnel. The salary will be specified and negotiated when preparing the employment contract.
