PhD-Internship

Research Unit, Norges Bank

Norges Bank Research is hiring PhD-students for four research internships in Oslo, Norway. Interns will collaborate closely with researchers at Norges Bank, with the aim of pursuing a co-authored project until publication in a peer-reviewed academic journal. The duration of the internships will be three months in 2022, and we expect interns to be in Oslo for the entire duration of the internship.

The Norges Bank’s PhD internship program seeks PhD-students who are specializing in macroeconomics, econometrics, banking or finance. This is an opportunity to experience an international environment at the forefront of research in the fields of monetary and financial stability policy.

Duties and responsibilities

• Work on the approved research project

• Present preliminary results at an internal seminar during the internship

• Complete a working paper on the project within one year.

Qualifications and application

• Candidates must be enrolled in a PhD-program and have time to complete their research started at Norges Bank shortly after the internship has ended.

• Applications must contain a CV and a research statement. Drafts of ongoing or completed research projects may also be included in the application. Kindly include two or three contacts for references. No recommendation letters are requested.

• The research statement should be no longer than two pages, and contain a description of research interests and expertise, a brief summary of ongoing or completed research papers and one or more proposals for a project to work on during the internship period. Compatibility with Norges Bank researchers’ interests and academic quality are key selection criteria.

Applicants must be of sound character with personal finances in order and will require a security clearance in accordance with Norges Bank’s rules. Applicants will be required to submit a police certificate of good conduct. Education and work experience will be verified.
