Lecturer-Business Analytics 2022-2023

The Graduate School of Management at the University of California, Davis, seeks temporary instructors to teach two sections of one course on Advanced Statistics for the academic quarter of Winter 2023. The course is part of the curriculum for the Masters of Science in Business Analytics program, offered in person in downtown San Francisco. Course topics include an overview of vocabulary, concepts and methods for using statistical analysis to solve business problems. Specific topics could include a review of vectors, matrices, matrix differentiation, the variance of a vector of random variables, linear regression, applications of linear models, principal components regression, Ridge regression, Lasso regression, and Elastic Net regression, Variable Selection (Forward, Backward, Step-wise) and Information Criteria (AIC, AICC, BIC), how to incorporate non linearity in linear regression models, mediation analysis, nonlinear regression, and non-parametric regression.

Positions are contingent on funding and pending administrative approval. Salary is based on ability and experience. Applicants should preferably have a PhD. degree, preferably in the areas of Statistics, Management Science, Operations Research, Marketing, Information Systems or Business Analytics. Applicants with significant industry experience in this domain will be preferred. In lieu of a PhD. degree, we will also consider applicants with 10 years or more of relevant work experience, preferably at the executive level.

Unit 18 Lecturers are governed under a collective bargaining agreement (American Federation of Teachers (AFT) - Non-Senate Instructional Unit). Under this contract, once a lecturer accumulates enough quarters of service, the lecturer can be reviewed for a Continuing Lecturer position.
