The Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time tenure stream appointment in the Economic Analysis and Policy area. The appointment will be at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor and will commence July 1, 2023, or shortly thereafter.

Applicants must have a PhD degree in Economics or a related area, and have a demonstrated exceptional record of excellence in research and teaching. We seek candidates whose research and teaching interests complement and enhance our existing strengths. We seek applicants working in applied microeconomics in fields that complement our strengths, including organizational economics, environmental economics and industrial organization. Experience teaching at the MBA level is particularly desirable.

Candidates will have an established international reputation. The successful candidate for this position is expected to be strongly engaged in innovative and independent research at the highest international level, and to sustain and lead an outstanding and competitive research program.

For this position, excellence in research is evidenced primarily by a sustained and impactful publication record, a strong research statement, and strong letters of reference from referees of high standing. The successful candidate for this position is expected to pursue and sustain innovative and independent research at the highest international level, and to continue to publish articles in internationally recognized top-tier academic journals in the field of Economics. We seek individuals that publish in the American Economic Review, Econometrica, Journal of Political Economy, Quarterly Journal of Economics, Review of Economic Studies and/or journals of similar caliber and international standing. We seek individuals that have an established research record, that present their research at significant conferences and at other highly-ranked schools, and that are involved in other noteworthy activities in Economics that contribute to the visibility and prominence of the discipline.

Applicants must demonstrate excellence in teaching, including a strong demonstrated ability to integrate both theory and practice; evidence of effective communication and presentation skills; a willingness to undertake graduate supervision; skillful use of engaging activities that will stimulate and challenge the intellectual capacity of faculty and students; and a demonstrated mastery of their subject area. This will be demonstrated by interviews and seminar presentations for short-listed candidates and by the teaching dossier submitted as part of the application including a teaching statement, sample syllabi, teaching evaluations, recognition through teaching awards, and strong endorsements from referees.

Salary and rank are competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
