About Forward College

FORWARD COLLEGE is a pan-European Higher Education Institution (Lisbon, Paris, Berlin) that promotes a relational pedagogy (100% small group teaching and 1:1 tutoring). As an academic partner of the University of London (LSE and King’s College), we teach Bachelor’s degrees, including a Bachelor in Economics directed by the LSE, to bright students who wish to achieve academic excellence but also nurture other forms of intelligence (social, emotional, and practical). As a degree-awarding institution, we also teach our own programmes (See here)

Our approach reflects this commitment:

  • Strong focus on high-quality teaching: 100% small classes with an average of 15 students and 1:1 tutoring.
  • We employ a ‘flipped classroom’ approach
  • Our students embark on a multi-city programme as part of their studies (‘3 years – 3 cities’), spending a year in Lisbon, Paris, and Berlin.
  • Approximately 30% of faculty time is dedicated to research, pedagogical development, or other career development activities

This is a tenure-track appointment leading to a permanent position upon successful completion of tenure, usually after 24 months.

Who are we looking for

You should have a passion for teaching and engaging students, be curious about new ways of teaching, have demonstrable excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to interact well with staff and contribute to the College’s activities.

You will also have:

  • A PhD in Economics from a top-tier University
  • A passion for teaching, pedagogical innovation, and fostering a positive and engaging learning environment for students
  • A proven ability to teach Year 1 courses in the field of Economics (see an example here).
  • A track record in research
  • Demonstrable workplace citizenship
  • An excellent level of English

For details of the course structure and course content, please refer to the University of London Programme description for the BSc in Economics. For this programme, Forward College acts as a Recognised Teaching Centre for the University of London, and students are awarded a University of London BSc Degree at the end of their studies. Academic Content is designed by the LSE, which is responsible for conducting examinations and assessing our students throughout each academic year.
