Position Responsibilities:

  • Model Development: Design and implement models to forecast key macroeconomic indicators, such as U.S. Non-Farm Payrolls, adjusting predictions in real-time with incoming data.
  • Data Analysis: Handle vast datasets, identifying and extracting meaningful insights while understanding concepts as seasonality, cointegration, and data revisions. This includes the acquisition of unconventional data through web scraping and negotiations with data providers.
  • Communication: Clearly articulate model predictions and associated uncertainties to stakeholders, enabling informed decision-making for trading strategies.
  • Market Insight: Analyze potential market reactions to economic indicators and provide actionable insights to traders for managing risks and opportunities.
  • Continuous Improvement: Proactively seek and evaluate new data sources, delve into data construction details, and leverage changes in data methodology to refine model accuracy.
  • Scalability: Enhance model management through automation, focusing on updating processes, predictions, visualizations, and communications to handle multiple models efficiently.

Qualifications & Desired Skills:

  • PhD in Economics/Econometrics with a focus on macroeconometrics (completed or ongoing).
  • Expertise in time-series analysis, forecasting models, and the evaluation of model performance, including understanding risks such as overfitting.
  • Proficiency in at least one high-level programming language (Matlab, R, Python, Julia) for model development and data analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to source, negotiate, and integrate new data into forecasting models.
  • Knowledge of major macroeconomic data and the ability to leverage this knowledge to gain a competitive edge in model prediction.

Your position
The Department of Economics, jointly with Tilburg Sustainability Center, has a vacancy for a 48 months Postdoctoral Researcher in Economics.

We are looking for an environmental economist with strong analytical and quantitative skills, programming experience in either R or python, and motivated to combine rigorous research with social impact. The researcher will develop and analyze economic models for the transition towards a circular economy. It integrates concepts such as circular life cycle assessments, material flow analyses, product as a service, into economic macro general equilibrium models, analyzing distributional effects on income, employment, and resource use across global value chains. We expect publications in top field journals, both in economics and interdisciplinary.

The position is rooted in the NWO funded ACT! project (Accelerating the Circular Transition). It aims at overcoming societal and scientific challenges for the transformation towards a circular society to tackle the existing sustainability challenges. The project develops a toolbox to study this systemic change – providing insights on policies that accelerate the transition towards a circular society.

The new researcher will be supervised by prof. Reyer Gerlagh and is hosted at the Economics department, which offers a large environmental economists group, including Prof. Sjak Smulders, Prof. Daan van Soest, Prof. Herman Vollebergh, and many junior researchers including Dr Julie Metta and Dr Etienne Lorang. The project will also include cooperations with other consortium members, in particular Leiden University, Utrecht University, and the Dutch Environmental Agency, PBL.

The job can include a teaching task and/or thesis supervision, which will be consistent with the role of Postdoc. Preferences for teaching are discussed at the interview and can be part of a balanced job offer.

Position Description

The Department of Health Care Policy (HCP) at Harvard Medical School is a multidisciplinary research department that brings together faculty from economics, medicine, sociology, statistics, and health policy and health services research, creating a dynamic environment for synergy and innovation. Through this cross-disciplinary approach, HCP faculty pioneer the discovery and dissemination of knowledge and mentor the next generation of leaders in health policy research.

HCP is seeking candidates for a faculty position in economics or a related field at the level of full professor with tenure. The candidate will be a thought leader in health economics, a collaborator within the department and across the university, a mentor to junior faculty, and a teacher and advisor to graduate students and postdoctoral trainees. The candidate’s research portfolio should demonstrate successful scholarship in innovative economic methods and their application to health policy and related areas. Research areas of interest may include, but are not limited to, health insurance, health care delivery, alternative payment models, entitlement programs, population health and health disparities, pharmaceuticals and innovation, or econometric methods.

Applicants should have a record of 1) publishing on topics relevant to health policy research, 2) securing external research grant funding, and 3) mentoring students.

Tenure-track Assistant Professor in Global Health Management & Policy (DrPH Program)

The School of Public Health (SPH) at San Diego State University (SDSU) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level to support the Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) Program in the Division of Global Health Management and Policy (GHMP). The SDSU School of Public Health (SPH) is ranked in the top 15% in the nation and third in California. The SPH is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health and GHMP is a member of the Association of University Programs in Health Administration.

The position:

This is a full-time (9-month), state-funded tenure-track position. The selected individual will be a full-time faculty member of the GHMP division and support the DrPH and graduate programming in the SPH. The individual will continue to build an independent research agenda. The faculty is expected to teach DrPH-required courses related to health economics, health policy, health systems strengthening, as well as other SPH/GHMP graduate courses as appropriate. Additional responsibilities include course development, thesis/dissertation supervision, field practice supervision, and services to the School, College, University, and communities.

The DrPH Program was launched in Fall 2024 with an inaugural cohort of 18 DrPH students. The purpose of the DrPH Program is to train leaders and executive managers to guide public health efforts, both public and private, in the State of California, the United States, and globally. The DrPH includes two concentrations (Executive Management and Global Health Management) and is structured as a hybrid-modality cohort model for 48 academic credits involving both synchronous and asynchronous coursework. Qualifications:

Candidates for this position should possess a terminal degree (PhD, ScD, DrPH, MD, etc.) in health sciences, public health, global health, economics, health policy, political science, business, decision sciences, data science, or other appropriate fields. The International Laboratory for Experimental and Behavioural Economics (BELab < https://epee.hse.ru/en/ >) at HSE University (Moscow) is undergoing an expansion, and we are currently looking for active researchers to join our group. Specifically, we invite applications for research fellow positions at both junior and senior levels.

Our lab has 26 shielded stations as well as a subject pool suitable for both offline and online experiments. At the university, there is a vibrant economics/finance research community with weekly seminars given by external speakers (online and offline) in addition to our internal seminar series.

Research funds for conference travel and experiments are provided to the researchers employed by the laboratory. Teaching is not obligatory, but teaching options might be available (for additional remuneration).

Appointed researchers are expected to publish in reputable academic journals. In addition to researchers with explicit expertise in experimental/behavioural economics, we also welcome theorists with an interest in laboratory experiments (strategic interactions, industrial organization topics, and other relevant themes are possible).

The Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics at the University of Saskatchewan seeks a dynamic and innovative individual for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Agricultural Economics and Policy. The successful candidate will have expertise in analyzing and addressing economic issues in the agricultural sector. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills to evaluate agricultural markets and policy impacts. Experience in quantitative modelling and data analysis with the ability to apply these techniques to real-world agricultural issues is desired. Excellent communication skills are essential for translating complex economic concepts into practical insights for diverse stakeholders, including policymakers, farmers, and community organizations. Evidence of the potential to become a high-quality teacher-scholar and to operate as a team player in a collegial environment is also required. Preference will be given to those with expertise in one or more research areas including international trade, agri-business, or agricultural production.

Successful candidates will be expected to engage in the following areas:

Teaching: Deliver a mix of three (per year) undergraduate and graduate courses in agricultural economics or agribusiness that align with the candidate’s expertise and interests.

Research: Conduct high-quality research and publish research findings in reputable peer- reviewed journals. The candidate will also be expected to actively pursue external funding opportunities to support research activities and to build a strong research program.

Mentorship: Provide mentorship and guidance to undergraduate and graduate students, including supervision of graduate research projects and theses. Encourage student involvement in research activities and facilitate opportunities for experiential learning of agricultural issues.

Service: Willingness to engage in service activities within the department, university, and broader academic community. Contribute to departmental initiatives, participate in academic committees, and actively collaborate with industry partners, government agencies, and relevant stakeholders.

The Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics focuses its research and teaching around applied economics, agribusiness and agri-food policy, and economic analysis for the agriculture and resource sectors. Salary bands for this position for the 2025-2026 academic year are as follows: Assistant Professor: $110,489 to $131,909. FACULTY RESEARCH ANALYST

The successful candidate will support research by Professors Arthur van Benthem, Susanna Berkouwer, Benjamin Lockwood, Corinne Low, Judd Kessler, and Alex Rees-Jones. Topics energy and the environment and/or development economics (van Benthem, Berkouwer); public and behavioral economics (Lockwood, Rees-Jones); labor, gender, and experimental economics (Low, Kessler). There are several open positions.

Examples of recent projects include:

Berkouwer and van Benthem: efficiency losses from imperfect environmental policies, energy efficiency adoption, carbon offsets, infrastructure construction, land protection and biodiversity, and hurricane insurance.

Rees-Jones and Lockwood: evaluating the merits of state-run lotteries, using wealth taxes to reduce inequality, studying strategies to reduce tax evasion, assessing the role of tax complexity, conducting welfare analysis that incorporates behavioral biases, and assessing the promise of new mechanisms for matching students to schools.

Low and Kessler: Studying the impact of grade-optional policies, running experiments to measure hiring bias among employers, examining changes in women’s labor force participation over time, studying the unequal division of home production within the household, and studying mechanisms to reduce hiring bias.

You will join Wharton’s Department of Business Economics and Public Policy (BEPP) and become part of a cohort of predoctoral research fellows. BEPP offers many opportunities for personal and professional development through learning new technical skills, attending seminars, and taking courses. In some instances, predoc RAs have become co-authors of academic papers.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Job responsibilities include performing a variety of statistical and econometric analyses, cleaning and analyzing data, writing research reports, conducting background research and literature reviews, identifying and obtaining secondary data, coding survey questionnaires, and managing field activities. Independent thinking, a thorough understanding of economics or related disciplines, an ability to manage work flows on multiple projects, and self-motivation are highly valued in performing these functions.

This is a challenging opportunity for an early-career professional who is passionate about social science research and has a strong desire to expand and deepen skills in economic research and quantitative data analysis. You will work closely with Professors van Benthem, Berkouwer, Kessler, Lockwood, Low, and Rees-Jones, who will provide supervision on research and offer mentorship on academic development more broadly. You will also be encouraged to be an active part of the research community, within the BEPP department and in relevant Wharton research centers. We anticipate that the successful candidate would work in this position for 2 years, before going on to graduate programs or careers in Economics, Public Policy, or another quantitative social science.

QUALIFICATIONS

● BA/BS in Economics, Statistics, or a related quantitative discipline;

● Previous experience as a research analyst or conducting independent research using statistical software such as STATA or R is preferred;

● Ability to analyze data and write reports;

● Self-directed, intrinsically motivated; capacity to manage work independently and organize workflows across multiple projects.

SALARY & BENEFITS

This is a full-time position based in Philadelphia, starting on July 1, 2025. This position is eligible for full Penn vacation and sick leave accrual. Annual salary is commensurate with experience within the range of $55,000 – $60,000 plus benefits. The Bank of Finland Research Unit is hiring for a full-time, fixed-term (two year) position, equivalent to a postdoctoral role, starting in Fall 2025. The position has a duration of two years, starting in 2025, with the possibility of another position being filled for one year in 2025 or 2026. The postdoc will join a dedicated community of economics researchers at Helsinki GSE. The postdoc will also have access to limited funds for research visits to support their future job search and the dissemination of their research findings.

The postdoc will be working in collaboration with our team but would also be given time for pursuing independent research. We encourage the person to be active in the microeconomics and industrial organization research groups at the Helsinki GSE, and our broader academic community, and participate in the supervision of our graduate students.

Teaching obligation for the position is limited (up to 5% annually). The postdoc could serve, for example, as a teacher or co-teacher for one course in economics to develop their teaching skills. The course can be taught in English - Finnish is not required. The successful candidate is expected to teach and provide Director-level leadership within the Grand Challenges Program and other programs such as the MPS, CEMS, and undergraduate business programs, with other responsibilities including advising students and participating in School service. The Grand Challenges Program is a required part of the Dyson undergraduate curriculum that provides students a unique opportunity to use their business skills to make a positive impact at a local, regional, national, or international level while addressing one or more U.N. Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It seeks to build awareness among students of the broader impacts of business on society and, in the process, to strengthen their professional and personal skills through a multi-year immersive experience. The Program includes a first-year introduction to the SDGs and problem (systems) analysis, second-year written expression courses, and a third-year pre-project course centered on “working together” in successful project work. It culminates in a client-facing experiential learning project, in which teams of seniors work under the close supervision of a member of the business faculty and of MBA or other graduate or professional students to address some of the most important societal challenges of our time.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses in the Grand Challenges curriculum and to provide academic leadership for the Program. POSITION LOCATION: Department of Agribusiness and Applied Economics, North Dakota State University

POSITION DESCRIPTION: The position is the AgCountry Endowed Chair in Agribusiness and is fully endowed, including a stipend and funding for graduate students and/or teaching assistants. The position is housed in the Center for Trading and Risk in the Department of Agribusiness and Applied Economics at North Dakota State University. The successful candidate would be tenured and hired at either the Associate or Full Professor rank, depending upon qualifications. The position is for a 9-month academic year and the split is: 70% Research, 30% Teaching.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful candidate will be expected to develop leadership in the department's research and teaching programs in agribusiness with an emphasis on finance and risk analysis. Areas of emphasis could include project financial analysis (mostly in value-added agriculture), finance and risk analysis in ag technology, financial management of agribusiness firms, crop insurance, credit scoring, etc. In addition, case studies related to these topics could be developed and used in the teaching program. Teaching responsibility would depend on the needs of the department. The candidate would be expected to develop two courses, one at the undergraduate and one at the MS level, in the general areas of agribusiness with an emphasis on ag finance. These would be new courses complementary to existing courses offered in the department.

Faculty evaluations are based on successful publications in leading disciplinary journals, active participation in professional activities, effective teaching and advising at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, satisfactory service and outreach activities to the profession, state, university, and department as well as successful pursuit of extramural funding sufficient to support an active research program.

AgCountry Farm Credit Services (AgCountry), a farm credit association of the federally chartered Farm Credit System and a lender to midwestern agriculture with a large agribusiness portfolio, funds the endowment. Priorities of the Chair would be presented annually to the AgCountry’s Executive Leadership Team and Board.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum requirements include:

1. earned Ph.D. in agricultural economics, or related disciplines;

2. experience in teaching and research in Agribusiness

3. expertise in agribusiness finance and quantitative methods;

4. effective oral and written communication skills;

5. demonstrated ability to conduct research and disseminate results in leading academic journals.

Preferred qualifications include:

1. evidence of teaching effectiveness;

2. ability to supervise MS and Ph.D. students;

3. ability to obtain extramural funding to support research activities;

4. ability to communicate research results to clientele groups;

5. demonstrated consistent and excellent contributions to research and publication, and scholarship; and

6. a record of externally funded research in agricultural economics, agribusiness, finance and/or risk analysis.

The Department of Agricultural Economics at the University of Saskatoon is seeking a dynamic and innovative individual for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Agricultural Data Analytics and Economics. The successful candidate will join a vibrant and collaborative academic community committed to advancing research and education in agricultural economics and business, and related fields. The College of Agriculture and Bioresources will be hiring a cohort of several new professors hired within the strategic area of Sustainable and Digital Agriculture, with which the successful candidate will be able to collaborate. Sustainable and Digital Agriculture is a priority research area rich in potential for collaboration, partnership, innovation, and impact. Applicants are expected to have a completed Ph.D. in agricultural economics, economics, or a related field with demonstrated expertise in empirical economic analysis including optimization, applied econometrics, quantitative methods, and experience with big data. The successful candidate is also expected to have a strong focus on advancing Prairie agriculture and analyzing data related to the agricultural economy and agri-business sector. Evidence of the potential to become a high-quality post-secondary teacher-scholar and to operate as a team player in a collegial environment is also required.

The Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics focuses its research and teaching around applied economics, agri-business and agri-food policy, and economic analysis for the agricultural and resource sectors. We have world-renowned graduate and undergraduate programs, and our faculty have received many teaching and research awards. With students from more than 15 countries, we also have a strong international presence.

Recent and ongoing research encompasses areas such as innovation (biotechnology, plant breeders’ rights, bioproducts, GM regulation and policy), rural communities, resources and the environment (climate change, water resources, forestry, development), agri-food marketing and supply chains, food safety, international trade, entrepreneurship, and much more.

Teaching: Develop and deliver undergraduate and graduate courses in agricultural data analytics. Courses may include topics such as data science, statistical analysis, econometrics, and decision analysis.

Research: Conduct high-quality empirical research and publish research findings in reputable peer-reviewed journals. The candidate will also be expected to actively pursue external funding opportunities to support research activities and to build a strong research program.

Mentorship: Provide mentorship and guidance to undergraduate and graduate students, including supervision of graduate research projects and theses. Encourage student involvement in research activities and facilitate opportunities for experiential learning in agricultural data analytics.

Service: Engage in service activities within the department, university, and broader academic community. Contribute to departmental initiatives, participate in academic committees, and actively collaborate with industry partners, government agencies, and relevant stakeholders.

Professional development: Stay abreast of emerging trends and advancements in agricultural data analytics, big data technologies, and economic methodologies. Pursue professional development opportunities to enhance teaching effectiveness and research productivity.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with others engaged in research related to sustainability and digital agriculture, including the Department of Economics, Johnson Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy, the Global Institute for Food Security and Global Institute for Water Security.

Salary bands for this position for the 2023-2024 academic year are as follows: Assistant Professor: $99,945 to $120,099. Cornerstone Research offers a market-leading compensation and benefits package. The base salary for the Senior Economist role with a relevant Ph.D. ranges from $235,000 to $302,500. The position of Post-doctoral Researcher in Health Economics offers a unique opportunity to work with experts from Masaryk University and other partner institutions on projects related to health and environmental aspects of ageing populations, inequality in access to healthcare and innovative therapies, burden of disease, social and environmental determinants of health, and the role of health status in the labour markets.

Masaryk University, the Faculty of Economics and Administration, is looking for a highly motivated and productive post-doctoral researcher in the field of in the field of empirical microeconomics.

This position offers a unique opportunity to work with experts from Masaryk University and other partner institutions on research projects related to labour market aspects of population ageing and/or social and regional peripheries. These projects explore a wide range of research topics covering discrimination, accessibility of healthcare and public services, and human and social capital effects and accumulation.

We are looking for a candidate:

  • with PhD degree or near completion of PhD. studies

  • with education and experience in the field of empirical labour and/or regional/urban economics

  • with research interest and demonstrated excellence in related fields

  • with excellent background in empirical methods and interdisciplinary research interests

  • solid knowledge of spatial econometrics is welcomed

Post-doctoral Researcher in Political Economics and/or Behavioral Economics

Masaryk University, the Faculty of Economics and Administration, is looking for a highly motivated and productive post-doctoral researcher in the field of political economics and/or behavioral and experimental economics.

We seek candidates with previous education and experience in microeconomics, econometrics, and experimental economics with a particular interest in research in the field of political economics or behavioral economics.

This position offers a unique opportunity to work with experts from Masaryk University and other partner institutions on projects related to political and behavioral economics. These projects explore a wide range of research topics covering voting behavior, political preferences and biases, pro-social behavior, polarization, and many others. The position will include collaborations with theoretical and empirical economists, experimental economists, political scientists and other experts, and focus on peer-reviewed research.

We encourage recent Ph.D. graduates specialized in political and/or behavioral economics to apply. Postdoctoral candidates are expected to be able to define their own research agenda and have a potential to publish in leading international journals.

We are looking for :

  • A full-time post-doctoral researcher,

  • Candidates must have completed a PhD. degree or be near completion,

  • Excellent background in state-of-the-art methods, interdisciplinary research interests,

POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH POSITION IN FINANCE

The Finance Department at the University of Mannheim offers a full-time Postdoctoral position (non-tenure track) to start on March 1st 2025, or later.

We are looking for a candidate with research interest in Corporate Finance, Corporate Governance, asset management and/or gender differences in financial markets. In addition to conducting high-quality independent research, the candidate is expected to provide support in teaching and administrative tasks and to contribute to a team-orientated working environment.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

As the ideal candidate, you have completed a degree in business or economics with very good results and gained further qualifications through a doctorate. The prerequisite is a completed doctorate in Germany or abroad (PhD or comparable). Applicants with research projects in the main subject areas mentioned above are strongly encouraged to apply. Fluent English language skills are required, German language skills are not essential.
