As a joint appointment, the European School of Management and Technology (ESMT Berlin) and the Kiel Institute for the World Economy seek to fill the position of

Professor in International Economics, in particular Geoeconomics (open rank)

starting at the earliest possible date.

The Kiel Institute for the World Economy is Europe’s leading research institute on globalization issues. ESMT Berlin is one of the top ranked private business schools in Europe and located in Berlin.

The successful candidate is expected to publish research in excellent journals and to successfully contribute to the networking and outreach activities of the Kiel Institute. The candidate will be jointly appointed to a professorship at ESMT Berlin and will have limited teaching duties therein. The candidate:

  • has a distinguished, internationally outstanding publication record in international economics, broadly defined, e.g. in international trade, macroeconomics, and/or finance, ideally with a link to geo-economics questions.
  • demonstrates strong interfaces with core business school areas such as International Business, Finance, Strategy.
  • has a strong quantitative/empirical focus.
  • has a proven commitment to excellence in teaching and is interested in supporting and collaborating with junior researchers.

The two appointment committees of the Kiel Institute and ESMT Berlin will make their decision in consensus.
