The Department of Economics at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor to begin August 12, 2024.
The Department of Economics offers an M.S. in Economics. The Department also plays a key role in the Ph.D. in Business Administration with a Major in Finance, the Ph.D. in Public Policy, and the M.S. in Mathematical Finance programs. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality instruction in one or more of those programs depending on the candidate’s fields.
Qualifications
High-quality research and teaching at both the graduate and undergraduate levels are expected of the successful candidate. Preference will be given to candidates with research interests in applied microeconomics or macroeconomics with strong quantitative and econometric skills. Candidates should have a completed doctorate in economics or a related field by the start of the appointment and must meet academic qualifications as described in the Belk College Policy on Qualified Faculty Status.
The Department prefers candidates with prior experience working with a student population from a variety of different backgrounds, including various ages, races, ethnicities, backgrounds, identities, and abilities, in order to support the mission and initiatives of the Department and College.

The review of applications will begin on November 17, 2023 and continue until the position is filled. The position is contingent on final budgetary approval. Interviews will be held via Zoom in December 2023, with campus visits anticipated to start in January 2024. Salary, teaching load, and other resources are competitive and consistent with other national research universities.
