The Department of Economics at the University of Exeter Business School is offering several fully-funded scholarships to our 5-year PhD Programme. This is part of our significant growth agenda in PhD training.

The scholarships provide competitive funding of up to £22,869 per year. This includes an annual stipend (£19,435) and renumeration for 180 hours of teaching (£3,434), in addition to covering full UK/international tuition fees.

Our selective PhD programme consists of a two-year taught MRes to prepare candidates in advanced Economics research methods, plus a three-year research PhD. We invite applicants from candidates with an interest in any field on Economics, but especially from those aligned with our key research areas: Applied Microeconomics, Behavioural and Experimental Economics, Econometrics, Environmental Economics, Macroeconomics.

Our department comprises of over 90 academics, and we have a vibrant research culture with seven regular seminar series, workshops, and PhD events. Doctoral students actively engage in these research activities and form an integral part of the department. Decisions on PhD topic and supervision will be made towards the end of the MRes, giving candidates plenty of time to explore a range of topics and to meet the faculty. More information about the department and our key research areas can be found on our website: https://business-school.exeter.ac.uk/economics/.

Application details are available here: https://www.exeter.ac.uk/study/funding/award/?id=5014. Applications must be submitted by Thursday 29th February 2024. Please contact the Programme Director Professor Surajeet Chakravarty (S.Chakravarty@exeter.ac.uk) with any questions.
