Established in 1832, Durham University is England's third oldest university, listed as a top-5 UK and top-100 global university. The Department of Economics, one of the four departments of the vibrant Durham University Business School, is looking to boost further and complement our existing research strengths and capabilities.

At this point, we seek to appoint an Associate Professor in Economics and an Assistant Professor in Law and Economics. The latter will be a joint appointment between the Law School and the Department of Economics. The first three years of both appointments will be heavily research-focused, and candidates are expected to contribute to the JusTN0W initiative (Just Transitions to a Net Zero World).

The salary for either appointment is competitive and commensurate with the candidates' qualifications.

Academic colleagues in the Department of Economics are supported to publish world-leading research in the top-5 journals in Economics and the highest impact journals in their area of interest, focusing on quality rather than quality, together with research capacity enhancement through research income generation. We will fully support research needs, including practical help such as resources to attend conferences and fund research activity, a generous research leave policy, and a designated mentor.
