The Department of Applied Economics (DEA) of Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) invites applications for various tenure-track positions at the Assistant Professor level, starting in September 2025.
We welcome applications from candidates specializing in any field of applied economics with a strong research background, ideally at post-doctoral level or beyond.
The Department of Applied Economics provides a research environment within the Barcelona academic pole, favouring academic interaction with all the other institutions of the area. The selected candidates are expected to be able to teach both in the undergraduate and graduate programs, supervise students’ work at any level, develop independent research programmes achieving international recognition, actively participate in the Department’s seminar series and become a member of the national and international research networks the Department belongs to. Teaching could be either in Catalan, English or Spanish.
The main teaching areas of the Department are Principles of Economics, International Economics, Public Sector Economics, Econometrics, Economic Policy, Labour Economics, and Spanish Economy.
The offered contracts are for a six-year ‘lector’ contract. Promotion to full tenure requires obtaining accreditation (to ‘agregat’ by AQU or ‘titular’ by ANECA), and could take place after three years of ‘lector’. The current gross salary for a ‘lector’ is 38.318 €/year (complemented with research and teaching recognition programmes). The annual effective teaching time is a maximum of 150 hours per year, divided in two semesters.
