Faculty Positions in Finance

Erasmus School of Economics (ESE) invites applications for a faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in all areas of Finance. The starting date is negotiable but would typically be September 2025.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants are expected to demonstrate excellence in research and either have a Ph.D. or expect to complete a Ph.D. in the near future. We are looking for candidates who have the potential to publish in the top finance or economics journals. The Assistant Professor positions involve a six-year tenure track period. The teaching load is relatively low. We offer a compensation package that is competitive relative to European salaries. In addition, non-Dutch applicants are usually granted a favorable tax status that exempts 30% (27% as of 2027) of annual income from taxes and social security contributions for five years.

The ESE Finance department is part of the Erasmus Finance Group, which also includes faculty of the ESE Financial Econometrics department and the Finance department at the Rotterdam School of Management. Erasmus Finance is ranked among the top finance groups in Europe (by, for example, the U.S, News & World Report, FT, or SSRN) and runs an active weekly seminar series with speakers from top international schools, a separate brown bag seminar, several annual conferences, and a visitor program with eminent finance scholars. We are embedded in and supported by two research schools, the Erasmus Research Institute of Management (ERIM) and the Tinbergen Institute (TI), through extensive research support to our faculty.

Rotterdam is a modern and thriving harbor city with a population of around 600,000 and a large expat community. It is located in the west of the Netherlands and provides attractive and affordable living conditions.
