The Adam Smith Business School is seeking an international research leader to fulfil the Daniel Jack Chair in Economics and lead the School’s contribution to the ESRC’s Productivity Institute.

The Daniel Jack Chair in Economics at the University of Glasgow is a prestigious professorship named after economist Daniel Thomson Jack (1901–1984). Daniel Jack, a University of Glasgow alumnus, made significant contributions to economic policy.

The successful candidate will undertake a senior leadership role by conducting internationally leading applied economics research, delivering research-led education and demonstrating excellence in teaching that supports the strategic objectives and priorities of the Adam Smith Business School and College of Social Sciences, in line with the University’s ambitions.

They will undertake substantial responsibilities associated with managing external stakeholder relationships that enhance the University’s reputation, advance knowledge exchange, public understanding and outreach, and strengthen links with professional bodies.

They will also undertake a senior leadership position within the ESRC Productivity Institute, of which the University of Glasgow is a founding partner.

The Adam Smith Business School is named in honour of another University of Glasgow alumnus, the father of modern economics, Adam Smith. The School aims to follow his legacy by developing graduates that are internationally recognised and make a positive impact on culture and society.

The School also aims at creating inspiring leaders, researchers, and professionals, whose research and relations with industry have real impact, influencing organisations as they develop and grow globally.
