The Deutsche Bundesbank’s Research Centre is seeking talented economists with a PhD (or those nearing completion of their PhD) in economics or finance to join our team on both a permanent tenure-track and a temporary postdoctoral basis.

We are particularly interested in candidates whose research aligns with the following areas:

  • AI and Digital Innovations: Impacts on financial intermediaries, cyber risks, banking supervision, labor market matching, and financial frictions.
  • Digital Payment Systems (CBDCs and Stablecoins): Effects on financial stability, market structure, liquidity management, and lender-of-last-resort considerations.
  • Geopolitical Fragmentation and Risks: Impacts on financial intermediaries, regulation, risk sharing and capital flows.
  • Demographic Change: Aging populations and digital banking models, risk attitudes, and pension systems.

We will be conducting virtual interviews from Monday, December 15, to Friday, December 19, 2025.
