Tenure-track/tenured Faculty in Economics with Specialization in AI/Spatial Econometrics/General Economics
The Thrust of Urban Governance and Design (UGOD) in the Society Hub at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) (HKUST (GZ)) invites applications for multiple open-rank faculty positions (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor) in Economics, in the following focus areas:
1. Application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies to economic research
2. Spatial Econometrics
3. General Economics
Responsibilities:
• Conduct high-quality research and publish in top-tier academic journals.
• Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in economics and related subjects.
• Supervise and mentor graduate students.
• Engage in collaborative, cross-disciplinary research projects within the university and beyond.
• Contribute to the academic community and participate in departmental and university service.
Qualifications:
• Ph.D. in Economics, Computer Science, AI, or related disciplines.
• Strong research record with a proven ability to publish in top-tier journals.
• Strong theoretical, algorithmic, and/or computational skills.
• Enthusiasm for cross-disciplinary collaboration and research.
Senior academics should demonstrate a proven commitment to teaching, experience in and readiness for cross-disciplinary curriculum and program design, and a record of service to the academic community and/or the public.

Remuneration and Conditions of Service
The salary is highly competitive and meets international standards, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Generous research funding, ample laboratory space, and excellent research equipment and support will be provided. All positions are tenure-track appointments based in Mainland China and will be offered by HKUST (GZ) in accordance with local employment laws and regulations.
