The ifo Institute is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Research position, with a six-year contract, based in Munich, Germany.

We are seeking a candidate who is deeply committed to conducting high-quality, policy-relevant research, with a strong motivation to advance her*his own research agenda and willingness to engage with the public and the media. The ability and willingness to raise third-party research funding are expected.

We are particularly interested in a candidate in any field of economics who leverages state-of-the-art machine learning and causal inference methods to innovative datasets, such as large-scale data, text as data, or satellite imagery (‘Big Data Economics’).

Thanks to our close cooperation with the University of Munich (LMU), our postdoctoral researchers are integrated into the junior faculty of the Department of Economics at LMU. The position has no formal teaching obligation; however, limited teaching is encouraged.
