UiS School of Business and Law invites applications for one or two tenure-track positions (at the assistant or associate professor level) in Economics. One position is open to candidates working in environmental and resource economics, public economics, or labor economics, and who possess excellent econometric skills. The other position is intended for a candidate with expertise and experience in conducting randomized controlled trials (RCTs). The candidate with expertise in RCTs will contribute to the development, implementation, and publication of large-scale RCTs in collaboration with practitioners and other researchers at Synapse Lab.

Candidates must provide evidence of research excellence in one of the fields listed above, demonstrating strong potential for publication in leading international journals in economics. Evidence of excellence may include an innovative job market paper, high-quality working papers, publications, strong letters of reference from established scholars, and a research statement outlining past achievements and future research plans. Research excellence will be evaluated relative to the number of years since the PhD defense.

Successful candidates should be able to communicate economic insights clearly and effectively to a variety of audiences.

These are 7-year tenure-track positions leading to a tenured appointment as associate professor, depending on performance. A mid-term review will be conducted after a three-year period, and a final evaluation will be conducted at the end of the tenure-track period. Requirements for tenure are stated in "Criteria and Evidence for Recommendation Regarding Tenure, University of Stavanger Business School"

Candidates must have earned a PhD in Economics by the time of appointment, or shortly thereafter, and no later than October 30, 2026. The PhD degree should have been achieved no earlier than 2021, excluding documented parental leave. Candidates for assistant professor cannot have held a regular postdoctoral position at UiS.

The positions offer a balanced combination of research, teaching, and supervision responsibilities, with a moderate teaching load and administrative duties. We offer a competitive salary, excellent benefits, and a relocation program.

Candidates are invited to submit their applications through https://econjobmarket.org/ by December 1, 2025. The application should include a cover letter, curriculum vitae, job market paper, other research papers, at least three letters of recommendation, a research statement, and a teaching statement, which should provide an overview and assessment of the applicant's teaching experience. Candidates are asked to indicate the field in which they are applying and specify whether they wish to be considered for an assistant or associate tenure-track position.

Online interviews will take place during the European Job Market (15–18 December). A selected number of candidates will be invited for job talks and campus visits in January or early February.
