ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT OF BUSINESS ANALYTICS AND DECISION SCIENCES: WU's new Department of Business Analytics and Decision Sciences’ focus is on predictive and prescriptive analytics to support informed, data-driven strategic business decisions. Researchers at the department develop and apply methods that derive optimal business decisions from data in a business context and empirically validate their effectiveness. A key priority of the department is applying these methods across fields that are complementary to WU’s existing research, fostering collaboration with other departments at WU.

The department's research thus contributes to advancing analytics- and data-driven solutions for challenges such as augmented decision-making, supply chain optimization, revenue management, global business strategies, pricing strategies, churn prediction, fraud detection, human resources, personalized recommendations, and the design of online platforms.

In the area of teaching, the department will play a central role in the establishment of a new major in Business Analytics and Decision Sciences in the bachelor program, to contribute to the master program Digital Economy, and to take an active role in the further development of WU’s PhD programs.

Should you require any further information, please contact Ben Greiner (bgreiner AT wu DOT ac DOT at) or Stefan Pichler (stefan DOT pichler AT wu DOT ac DOT at).

WU is an Equal Opportunity Employer and seeks to increase the number of its female faculty. Therefore, qualified women are strongly encouraged to apply. In case of equal qualification, female candidates will be given preference.
