The IHS – Institute for Advanced Studies in Vienna is a leading non-university research institute that creates empirically based knowledge on significant economic and social challenges of our time. It delivers excellent applied basic research and impartial scientific policy advice, combining economic and social science perspectives.

with specialization in one of the following fields: public finance, education economics, labor economics, survey research.
Your Profile
Ideal candidates should complete their PhD by fall 2026 or have completed it within the last year. We are looking for applicants with an excellent grasp of economic concepts and quantitative methods who are eager to conduct top-class applied research that is also relevant to society and decision-makers. A desire to engage in public discourse is appreciated. We expect a high level of team spirit and strong commitment to the vibrant academic life at the institute.
