CONTEXT

The University of Namur is recruiting a full-time postdoctoral researcher (1 year contract) in macroeconomics, as part of the ARC-funded research project “The Impact of Climate Change on Economic Expectations and Behavior: Evidence and Implications for Macro-Finance Models".

This interdisciplinary project investigates how climate-related risks—including both physical risks and transition risks associated with the shift to a green economy—affect market expectations, investment behavior, and broader macroeconomic dynamics. Bringing together macroeconomic modelling and empirical analysis, the project seeks to generate insights that can inform sustainable policy. Ultimately, it aims to equip policymakers, particularly central banks, with empirically grounded evidence to support macroeconomic and financial stability throughout the transition to a low-carbon economy.

RESEARCH FOCUS

The selected candidate will work on developing DSGE macroeconomic model that incorporates climate factors and imperfectly rational expectations, with the objective of assessing the impact of climate-related risks on inflation, inflation expectations, and macroeconomic stability.

We seek highly motivated researchers with strong expertise in applied economic research and DSGE modelling, along with a clear interest in translating their findings into policy-relevant recommendations. The ideal candidate should hold or be near completion of a Ph.D. This position is embedded in the Department of Economics and the institute of Development, Finance and Public Policies (DeFiPP) an institute with over 30 active scholars in economics, finance, and macroeconomics.
