The University of Bayreuth invites applications for a fixed-term, non-tenure-track Postdoctoral Researcher position in International Trade.
We seek outstanding, highly motivated early-career researchers with a strong background in theoretical modelling and/or structural estimation and quantitative methods. The position is full-time, initially four years, with a possibility of extension. The start date is flexible and will be agreed mutually. Remuneration is based on the Bavarian public pay scale TV-L (E13).
The position is linked to the DFG-funded research unit “International Division of Labour (IDoL): New Challenges for Workers, Firms, and Policy Makers”. IDoL studies absorption and transmission mechanisms across firms and countries in the global economy, the vulnerability of global value chains to rising uncertainty, and the challenges that global firms pose for innovation and competition in national and international policy frameworks.
The research unit involves close collaboration with researchers at leading institutions in Germany and neighbouring countries, with a focus on international trade. In this respect, the position offers an excellent opportunity for scholars aiming to advance an independent research agenda in international trade while expanding their academic network.
The University of Bayreuth is located in the region of Franconia in the state of Bavaria, Germany. We offer a dynamic, research-focused environment, dedicated mentoring across partner institutions, and ample opportunities for collaboration. The successful candidate will have access to advanced research infrastructure and databases, as well as financial support for participation in national and international conferences.
Please submit your application via econjobmarket.org by January 3, 2026, 23:59 UTC. The application package should include: (i) cover letter; (ii) CV; (iii) job market paper; (iv) research statement; and (v) at least two reference letters.
Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed starting January 7, 2026.
The University of Bayreuth is an equal opportunity employer. We strongly encourage applications from women and from candidates from underrepresented groups. Applicants with severe disabilities will be given preference in the case of equal qualifications.
