The School of Public Health and Community Medicine at the University of Gothenburg is recruiting 2 postdoctoral fellows in health economics. The positions are based within the Health Economics, Policy and Evaluation group, a research environment comprising researchers in health economics and epidemiological methods, and supported by external research funding from multiple Swedish and international funding agencies.
Position 1
The position will be part of the MedPREP project, funded by NordForsk as part of the initiative “Antagonistic threats challenging societal security in the Nordic and Baltic countries”. MedPREP is a collaboration between health economics groups at the University of Gothenburg, the University of Oslo, and the University of Southern Denmark. MedPREP aims to conduct research that can strengthen health system resilience through robust pharmaceutical preparedness, particularly regarding the availability, production, and governance of critical pharmaceuticals. Research approaches in MedPREP can involve both economic evaluation methods (e.g., cost-effectiveness and cost-benefit analyses) and registry-based analyses to assess the effects of policies and investments aimed at strengthening pharmaceutical preparedness.
PI/Mentor: Mikael Svensson
Position 2
The position is funded through two projects that use Swedish register data to study the organization of primary care and its effects on efficiency, equity, work ability, and return to work. The projects also examine the role of the physician and the patient-physician relationship in pharmaceutical treatment and sick leave. The position offers strong opportunities for register-based research using Swedish population and health data in a dynamic interdisciplinary environment in collaboration with researchers in health economics, biostatistics, epidemiology, family medicine, and occupational and environmental medicine.
PI/Mentor: Gustav Kjellsson

As a postdoctoral researcher, you are also expected to collaborate with other researchers in the research group to contribute to a collaborative and stimulating research environment, and together with senior researchers, contribute to efforts to attract external research funding. We also expect active participation in the group’s seminars and on-campus activities.
