About the Department

The Department of Business UWA India is integrally aligned with the UWA Business School, one of Australia’s leading business schools. Through this association, UWA India delivers high‑quality degree programs in economics, business and management, and advances impactful, world‑class research.

Economics is a central disciplinary area within the department, supporting undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in economics, econometrics and statistics across the Bachelor of Economics and MBA programs. Units are delivered on an ongoing basis in Semester 1 and Semester 2 and place a strong emphasis on quantitative analysis and evidence-based reasoning. The curriculum develops students’ capability in economic modelling, data analysis and applied economic decision making, equipping graduates with the analytical skills required to interpret complex economic issues and contribute effectively to policy, business and research contexts.

About the opportunity

• As an Assistant Professor or Senior Assistant Professor in the Department of Business at UWA India, you will contribute to high-quality teaching and learning, develop and disseminate impactful research, and participate in scholarly, service and governance activities that support UWA’s academic mission.

• At the Assistant Professor level, you will focus on delivering approved units, contributing to curriculum enhancement, developing a research profile with peer-reviewed outputs, participating in research funding applications and supervising students where appropriate.

• At Senior Assistant Professor level, you will make substantial contributions to programme and curriculum design and delivery, lead or co-lead scholarly initiatives, undertake independent and collaborative research that makes original contributions to the discipline, supervise research students, contribute actively to research funding applications and mentor junior staff.

About you

Assistant Professor

• A PhD or near completion in Economics or equivalent academic standing.

• Demonstrated ability to undertake high-quality research with potential to publish in international peer-reviewed journals.

• Ability to independently teach in one or several of the following subject areas: economics; finance; general management; global business; human resource management and organisational behaviour; business communication; business statistics; entrepreneurship and innovation; marketing

• Evidence of an emerging research agenda aligned with the discipline.

• Capacity to contribute to curriculum development and innovative learning initiatives.

Senior Assistant Professor

• A doctoral qualification in Economics or equivalent academic standing.

• Demonstrated track record of research excellence, including sustained publications in high‑quality international peer‑reviewed journals.

• Ability to independently teach in one or more of the following areas: economics, finance, management, global business, human resource management and organisational behaviour, business communication, business statistics, entrepreneurship and innovation, or marketing.

• Evidence of success in obtaining, or contributing to, competitive research funding.

• Demonstrated experience in, or commitment to, supervision or co‑supervision of Honours and/or HDR students.
