The Institute of Economics and Econometrics at the University of Geneva (Switzerland) invites applications for a postdoctoral position in environmental economics, starting as early as Fall 2026. The appointment is for up to two years.
The position is part of a research project examining the effects of supply-chain policies aimed at reducing deforestation, with a particular focus on how international trade and national policies affect land-use change, as well as an emphasis on causal inference using remote sensing data.
We welcome applicants with research interests in environmental economics and a strong background in one or more of the following areas:
- trade models, particularly quantitative spatial and trade models;
- dynamic discrete choice models, particularly land-use decision models;
- econometrics, particularly machine learning methods applied to remote sensing data.
The ideal candidate will also have experience working with large georeferenced datasets, proficiency in R (or eventually Python), and familiarity with the Brazilian context and/or Portuguese language skills. The position offers a highly competitive salary, as well as support for travel and research expenses. Candidates must have completed their Ph.D. by the official start date.
