We are seeking established and internationally recognized scholars with outstanding research records and strong leadership skills. Candidates should have demonstrated excellence through publications in top-tier international journals.

These professorships are part of the Cluster of Excellence “ECONtribute: Markets & Public Policy,” jointly run by the Universities of Bonn and Cologne and funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) under the Excellence Strategy. The Cluster’s overarching aim is to advance the understanding of market functioning and failures, as well as effective public policy responses, using innovative research approaches. The successful candidates will play a central role in the Cluster and are expected to take on leadership responsibilities. A strong commitment to contributing to the Cluster’s management structures is required.
We expect successful candidates to demonstrate a commitment to excellent teaching and supervision at the Bonn Graduate School of Economics and within the Department’s study programs. Graduate teaching is conducted in English; undergraduate teaching may be offered in either English or German.
The position is full-time. The expected start date is October 1, 2027. Formal requirements are regulated by §36 Higher Education Act of North Rhine-Westphalia (Hochschulgesetz des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen). Candidates must hold a PhD in Economics and are expected to have a track record of high-quality research appropriate to the level of appointment.
