Université PSL is launching a call for applications for a Junior Professor Chair in Economics, titled "Economics, Information, Data, AI", based at the LEDa research center, Université Paris Dauphine-PSL, Paris, France.

This is a tenure track position with a reduced teaching load leading to a full professor position at LEDa, Université Paris Dauphine-PSL. The position may start at a mutually agreed date between March 2027 and December 2027.

The position is open to all researchers wishing to develop their work in economics, with a focus on information, data, and AI. This work may be theoretical, or empirical in areas where the scarcity of traditional economic data makes innovative data construction particularly valuable (developing countries, history, experimentation, etc.). The position includes internationally competitive salary and start-up package.

Start Date: A mutually agreed date between March and December 2027.

Financial Support

Salary: The annual salary will be equivalent to a Professor (Second class) position (between €40,000 and €45,000 gross per year, depending on experience) during the tenure-track period. This salary is slightly negotiable depending on the candidate's initial experience.

Associated funding : The Junior Professor Chair will receive a € 200,000 startup package during the tenure-track period, including wages for one PhD student and one postdoctoral researcher (for two years), and equipment and operating expenses.

Duration of the chair contract: Between 4-year and 5-year tenure-track phase depending on the recruited candidate profile, followed by permanent professorship after evaluation by a dedicated committee. The tenure-track period may be extended by one additional year by decision of the evaluation committee.

Teaching may be conducted in French or in English. Yet to be tenured, the Junior Professor must be able to teach in French for at least part of their course load. Communication with administration at Université Paris Dauphine-PSL is conducted in French.

Requirements to apply

Candidates must hold a PhD degree in economics and have a research record including publications in fields relevant to the job profile and in top-ranking journals. They must be fluent in English. A post-doctoral position outside France is a strong asset.

Research Project

The successful candidate should be committed to a state-of-the-art research program focusing on economics in the fields of information, data, and AI. It may be theoretical, or empirical in fields where the scarcity of traditional economic data makes innovative data construction particularly valuable (developing countries, history, experimentation, etc.).

The project may tackle production, circulation, or processing of information and its role in individual or collective behaviors and trajectories. The project can also rely on theoretical and/or applied microeconomics approaches, especially in information economics, game theory, mechanism design, and matching. It may include laboratory or field experiments, or the production and analysis of innovative observational data (geospatial data, data from natural language processing or remote sensing, etc.). Special attention will be given to the intersection of applied economics, AI, and the analysis of economic decisions and policies.

Teaching Project

The Junior Professor will contribute to undergraduate economics courses. Depending on their specialization, they may also teach in development economics, data science, and information economics at the master’s and PhD levels. They will help develop innovative modules at the intersection of economics, data, and AI, with a focus on quantitative methods, information analysis and production, and their links with economic development challenges.

The Junior Professor will teach in PSL and Université Paris Dauphine-PSL programs, particularly in the Master in Quantitative Economics and in the Master in International Affairs and Development, as well as in programs related to development, data science, and AI. Teaching will emphasize the use of innovative data, empirical and experimental methods, and AI tools for economic analysis and public policy evaluation.

· Interview dates: Candidates will be notified in mid- October 2026. Short-listed candidates will be invited to give a public seminar within the LEDa research unit on October 23, 2026. Interviews with the recruitment committee will take place in end-October and early November 2026.
