One Assistant Professor (“Profesor Ayudante Doctor”) position is open in the Economics Department at Universidad Complutense de Madrid (Departamento de Análisis Económico https://www.ucm.es/fundamentos-analisis-economico2). In addition to this position, the department supports applications for 2-5 years postdocs subject to competitive funding awarded by public and private institutions in Spain. Candidates are welcome to also join www.ucm.es/icae/ to actively contribute to its research activities.

Formal Requirements before the application deadline:

- Completed (not expected) PhD from a relevant research institution at the application stage for the Assistant Professor position. For candidates with doctoral degrees awarded by a non-Spanish institution, a degree equivalence certificate is required (see details in https://edoctorado.ucm.es/solicitud-de-equivalencia).

- At least intermediate Spanish. For non-natives, proficiency in Spanish will be assessed in the interview although a language certificate is no longer required.

What we expect from candidates:

- Research: publications in leading journals in your field and dissemination in conferences and media or evidence of potential to publish; ability to lead research projects and secure competitive research funding; organise research events in your field.

- Teaching: ability to convey teaching material in a rigorous and engaging way to students (undergraduate and master level), with a maximum of 6 hours per week on average and possibility to negotiate whether teaching is concentrated in a term or spread throughout the year. Teaching areas include an array of courses in economic theory (macro and micro), mathematics and econometrics or field courses such as quantitative finance, industrial organization, game theory, environmental economics, etc.
