The Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Fribourg (Switzerland) invites applications for an

Assistant Professorship in the Economics of Sustainability (tenure-track)

at the Department of Economics. The expected start date is August 1 or September 1, 2027.

The successful candidate will teach courses in German and English at the Bachelor’s and Master’s levels. At the Bachelor level, the successful candidate is expected to offer a course in Public Economics in German. The research profile as well as offered Master courses should fall within the domain of sustainability, including, for example, climate, energy or environmental economics, but could also include societal elements of sustainability, such as poverty, inequality or well-being.

The successful candidate must hold a Ph.D. in Economics or a related field (or expect to complete the Ph.D. prior to commencing the position in Fribourg). Further, the candidate must demonstrate strong research potential in the economics of sustainability, the ability to publish in leading journals, and excellent teaching skills. The University of Fribourg is bilingual (French/German). Fluency in German is required and knowledge of French (oral level B1) is expected. If knowledge of French is lacking, it must be acquired within two years of taking up the position.
