The Center for Economic Research on Governance, Inequality and Conflict (CERGIC) at ENS de Lyon is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher in political economy.

The two-year position will start on September 1st, 2027. The gross monthly salary is €2,900. The successful candidate will be based at École Normale Supérieure de Lyon. The post-doc will also have access to research funds. There are no teaching duties. The salary can be complemented with optional teaching (knowledge of French is not required, as the relevant courses are taught in English).

Candidates with strong skills in applied microeconomics and a particular interest in political economy, media economics or industrial organization are strongly encouraged to apply. The post-doc researcher will contribute to the INFORM project, funded by the Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR JCJC grant). The project studies contemporary news production and media accountability, notably through analyses of the transformation of media markets and their impacts on newsrooms, audiences and content production. Research may also extend to related topics in political economy and the functioning of democratic institutions. The post-doc will work under the supervision of Associate Professor Elisa Mougin.

Applicants should demonstrate an outstanding commitment to research in applied microeconomics, political economy or political science, with strong quantitative skills. Candidates must hold a PhD or be expected to complete it by the start date. The application package should contain a CV, a cover letter, a job market paper, and three letters of recommendation.

Online interviews with the most promising candidates will be scheduled between December 14 and 17, 2026, and will be online. Shortlisted candidates will then be invited to Lyon for a fly-out (travel costs fully covered).
