The Department of Economics, Management and Quantitative Methods at the University of Milan invites applications for up to two postdoctoral positions (Contratti di Ricerca) in Economics. The appointments will be made through a formal public competitive selection process conducted by the University of Milan.

The positions are funded by the five-year FIS3 Starting Grant “Longevity, Fertility, and Expectations: A Macroeconomic Approach to Life Decisions of Families (MacroLife),” led by Professor Francesca Parodi. The project studies household decisions over the life cycle, including fertility, employment, saving, and retirement. It combines empirical analysis of survey and administrative microdata, survey experiments, and dynamic structural modeling.

Applicants should hold, or be close to completing, a PhD in Economics and have a strong background in at least one of the following fields: Quantitative Macroeconomics, Public Economics, Labor Economics, or Household Finance. Successful candidates will contribute to the project according to their research interests and expertise and will collaborate closely with the project team.

The initial appointment is for two years, with the possibility of renewal for an additional two years. The gross annual salary is approximately €40,000. Candidates relocating from abroad may be eligible for tax benefits.

To participate in the public selection process, applications must be submitted through the University of Milan’s official application portal at the link below by 12:00 noon (Central European Time) on October 30, 2026. Applications submitted through any other channel or after the deadline will not be valid and cannot be considered.
