The Department of Economics at ESSEC Business School invites applications for a position at the rank of Associate / Advanced Assistant Professor in Industrial Organization, starting September 2027. The position is tenure-track or tenured, depending on experience.

We are looking for candidates with a few years of post-PhD experience and a strong research record, including publications or papers under revision in leading general-interest or field journals. We welcome applications in all areas of IO, theoretical or empirical. We particularly value research that combines economic models with data, and work related to competition policy, digital markets and platforms, or regulated industries such as energy and health.

The department hosts an active group in IO and mechanism design, and is part of the THEMA research unit (CNRS) at CY Cergy Paris Université. The successful candidate will join a research-oriented environment in the Paris area, with close links to the local economics community.

The position comes with a competitive salary, research funding and a reduced teaching load during the first years. Prior experience may be credited towards tenure. Teaching will take place in ESSEC’s programs in English, and may include courses in industrial organization, competition strategy and data-driven economics.

Applications should be submitted through EconJobMarket.org and include a CV, the two best papers (published or under revise-and-resubmit), a research statement, teaching evaluations if available, and three letters of reference. Candidates with papers under revision are encouraged to include the editor’s letter and referee reports.

The deadline for applications is November 20, 2026. Interviews will take place virtually during the European Job Market (December 14-17, 2026), and campus visits in early 2027. ESSEC follows the coordination guidelines of the EJME.
