The University of Barcelona School of Economics and the Chair of Energy Sustainability (IEB - Barcelona Institute of Economics, University of Barcelona, UB) invite applications in the fields of Environmental and Energy Economics for a three-year postdoctoral position starting in September 2027. An earlier start date is possible and can be agreed with the successful candidate.
The successful candidate will join the research project “Boosting the Energy transition by correcting Cognitive misperceptions, providing co-Benefits, and fostering Delegation” (ATR2025-164656, Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities), led by Prof. Andreas Loeschel.
The aim of this project is to advance interdisciplinary scientific knowledge in behavioural, climate, and energy economics. A central pillar of decarbonisation is the local expansion of renewable electricity generation and the broad electrification of energy consumption across sectors. Although substantial progress has been made in deploying renewable energy technologies, the pace remains insufficient. The research project addresses underexplored, behavioural, economic and institutional barriers constraining further electrification.
The Chair of Energy Sustainability at the UB promotes research on the production, supply and use of the energy needed to maintain social welfare and development, placing special emphasis on aspects related to its economic, environmental, and social impacts. The Chair belongs to the Barcelona Institute of Economics (IEB) that is a research centre whose goals are to promote and disseminate work in applied economics, and to contribute to the debate and decision-making process in economic policy (ieb.ub.edu/en).
The University of Barcelona is a leading centre in southern Europe, 1st university in Spain, deeply committed to excellence in research. Within this framework, the UB School of Economics serves as a pivotal platform for research and graduate education in Economics. According to IDEAS, the UB School of Economics is ranked 92nd in the world.
