NHH in Bergen, Norway, invites applications for two postdoctoral positions in applied microeconomics at the Department of Economics. The duration of each position is three years.
The postdoctoral positions offer a unique opportunity to join an ambitious research environment in applied microeconomics and to become an integral part of the FAIR-Centre for Experimental Research on Fairness, Inequality and Rationality and the Department of Economics (FAIR) at the Department of Economics. The successful candidates will work closely with researchers at FAIR on one of two research projects:
Postdoctoral Position 1: FOUNDATIONS: The Foundations of Labor Productivity
The FOUNDATIONS project is funded by the European Research Council (Project 101302557). The successful candidate will work closely with Alexander Willén and other researchers on projects examining how labor-market structures shape worker sorting and learning, firm strategy, workplace organization, and productivity. The research combines large-scale surveys and experiments with population-wide administrative data and detailed firm-level information, with a particular focus on questions related to market power, human capital, and productivity.
Postdoctoral Position 2: Labor-Market Structures, Working Conditions, and Worker Well-Being
This project is funded by NFR FRIPRO grant 360300. The successful candidate will work closely with Katrine Løken and Alexander Willén, and other researchers at FAIR on projects examining how labor-market structures and institutions shape working conditions and workers’ broader life outcomes. The research will combine rich administrative data, linked survey data, and empirical methods to study questions related to employer power, worker voice and unions, workplace environment, and worker well-being.
Both positions provide substantial scope for intellectual contribution and for developing independent research within the respective research agendas.
We are looking for highly ambitious and collaborative researchers with a strong background in applied microeconomics, particularly labor, public, personnel, or organizational economics. The ideal candidates will have excellent empirical, analytical, and technical skills and combine methodological rigor with creativity and a strong motivation to produce research aimed at publication in leading international journals.
The department seeks ambitious candidates early in their careers. Applicants should hold, or be close to completing, a PhD degree in a business-oriented field such as economics or a closely related field from a recognised business school or university.
