The Centre for Health Economic Research at Uppsala University is hiring for a 2-year post-doc position, beginning no later than September 2027.

The interdisciplinary center focuses on research for an efficient use of health care resources and improvement of health in the population. Our research has a quantitative emphasis using rich register data and state-of-the-art methods to create new knowledge.

We expect the post-doc to conduct independent high-quality research contributing to our research program on the causes and consequences of the spatial distribution of health. Tasks include initiating and running projects and collaborating with other members of the center, and contributing to a collaborative and supportive environment.

The center is a partnership between the Disciplinary Domain for Medicine and Pharmacy and the Faculty of Social Sciences building on a cross-disciplinary perspective to combine different competences, with collaboration between researchers in economics and medicine. One of our major research initiatives is the Healthy Cities research program, which investigates the causes and consequences of geographical differences in health, including the roles of place-based factors and residential sorting in shaping population health. Uppsala University is Scandinavia’s oldest university, conveniently located only 30 minutes from Stockholm Arlanda International Airport.

Candidates should hold a PhD in Economics, Health Economics, or closely related field, or expected to complete their PhD no later than September 2027. Applicants must demonstrate excellence in research, and strong potential for independent research.
