The International Inequalities Institute (III) at LSE brings together experts from many LSE Departments and Centres to lead critical and cutting-edge research on the nature, causes, and consequences of inequality.

We are seeking to recruit a Research Officer (post-doctoral researcher), for a 24-month period, to conduct original research on topics related to the dynamics and/or perceptions of inequality and fairness. The postholder will be based in the International Inequalities Institute (III) and will contribute to the intellectual life of the School through conducting and publishing outstanding quality research on these topics.

Candidates will have:

  • A completed PhD (or close to completing a PhD by the post start date) in economics or another social science relevant for the successful conduct of research on the dynamics and/or perceptions of inequality. (If the PhD is not completed by the job start date, a certificate stating that the defence will take place by the end of 2027 will be needed).
  • Proven expertise and research interests in inequality dynamics, within or between generations, including from a comparative perspective; or in the perceptions of inequality and fairness.
  • Proven skills and experience in quantitative methods which demonstrate the capacity to conduct original and rigorous research on topics related to inequality.
  • Ability to conduct original analysis of data of different kinds, including survey data and large administrative datasets.

We offer an occupational pension scheme, generous annual leave, hybrid working, and excellent training and development opportunities.
