The Department of Economics at the University of Verona invites applications for a two-year postdoctoral research position (“Contratto di ricerca”) in any field of economics, econometrics or finance.

The position offers an excellent opportunity for early-career researchers to develop their research agenda in a stimulating and internationally oriented academic environment. The appointment is for two years, and may be renewed once for a further two years, subject to applicable regulations and the availability of funding. The position carries no teaching obligations, and proficiency in Italian is not required. The gross annual salary is approximately €37,000. Research funds will also be available to support the successful candidate’s research activities.

Eligible candidates relocating to Italy may benefit from favorable tax provisions under Italian law.

We particularly encourage applications from recent PhD graduates and candidates in the final year of their PhD who expect to obtain their degree before the appointment begins, subject to the eligibility requirements and deadlines specified in the official call for applications.

Candidates will be evaluated primarily on their research achievements, the quality and originality of their work, and their potential to develop an independent research agenda. The starting date is flexible, with the appointment expected to begin by spring 2027.

The Department has been designated as a Department of Excellence for the period 2023-2027 in recognition of its research achievements and development plans. Located at the Santa Marta campus, within walking distance of Verona's historic city center, the Department offers a vibrant research environment covering a broad range of fields, including inequality and poverty, health economics, behavioral and experimental economics, econometrics, quantitative finance, and statistical methods for economic analysis. The successful candidate will have opportunities to interact and collaborate with faculty members across different research areas.
