The Position

SAIS Europe is currently seeking to fill a resident faculty position in finance or development economics. A strong empirical background, particularly in econometrics, would be an advantage. The position will hold the title of the Vera and Stefano Zamagni professorship and will be tenure-track at the assistant or associate professor rank. It is based at the Bologna campus of SAIS, in the Department of Economics and Finance. Candidates will be expected to teach in the master’s programs in International Affairs, Global Risk, and International Economics.

Qualifications

Candidates will be expected to have innovative research agendas with a policy focus. A Ph.D. in economics or finance and with a strong track record of publications is expected for candidates at the associate professor level. A candidate at the assistant professor level must have completed her/his Ph.D. in economics or finance by July 2020. Preference will be given to candidates who combine outstanding research with proven or potential excellence in teaching and presence in the public square. The appointments will ideally start on 1 July, 2020.

Established in 1955 as an integral part of the School of Advanced International Studies of the Johns Hopkins University (SAIS), SAIS Europe in Bologna, Italy has been educating global leaders in the area of international affairs for almost 65 years. As a highly-selective graduate institution with a distinguished faculty, SAIS consistently ranks as one of the top schools of international relations in the world. SAIS was founded to provide a practical approach to training students in international leadership and foreign relations, and to provide mid-career educational opportunities for those already working in related fields.
