The University of Stavanger Business School seeks an assistant or associate professor of economics with competence and experience in conducting randomized controlled trials (RCT).

The position is part of the University of Stavanger’s strategic commitment to build a strong multi-disciplinary research group conducting randomized controlled trials in close collaboration with practitioners. You will be a key member of this group, which aims to contribute with research relevant to national and regional public policy, while at the same time publishable in highly-ranked international journals. This strategic commitment builds on recent successes at the university with large scale RCTs (Synapse Lab). It involves the Faculty of Social Science, UiS Business School, Faculty of Arts and Education and Faculty of Health Sciences. The position is organizationally affiliated with the University of Stavanger Business School, Department of Economics and Finance.

You will conduct research in your field using RCT methodology. You will also be responsible for teaching a PhD-level course on RCT for scholars in the social sciences. An additional key responsibility will be to advise and mentor research groups at the University of Stavanger seeking to conduct RCTs in the social sciences. Hence, you must have extensive knowledge in, and experience with, all stages of an RCT: research design, intervention development, data collection, intervention implementation, data analysis, and research dissemination. The expected teaching, advising and service load is lower than fifty percent, with the remaining time for research.

There is a 7-year tenure track to qualify for tenured associate or full professor. The public defence of your doctoral thesis must have taken place within the last 5 years, excluding leave in connection to child births and adoptions.

We offer a competitive salary, excellent benefits and a relocation programme, including support and language courses for spouses. Women are especially encouraged to apply.

To be considered for an interview at the European Job Market for Economists in Rotterdam on December 18th and 19th, submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, job market paper and three letters of recommendation by November 17th. More information about the position can be obtained from Professor Mari Rege, tel. +47 92838888, e-mail mari.rege@uis.no; or Department Chair Christian Jensen, +47 51834502christian.jensen@uis.no. Formal applications to be evaluated by an external expert committee will be collected shortly after the interviews.
