The Düsseldorf Institute for Competition Economics (DICE) at Heinrich-Heine-University Düsseldorf is inviting applications for two positions as

Postdoctoral Researcher in Industrial Organization, Behavioral Economics, or International Economics (full time, EG 13 TV-L)

The duration of the positions is initially limited to two years, starting on October 1st, 2020 or later, and with the option of an extension. The fixed-term nature of the contracts is based upon the Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz (WissZeitVG) with the objective of promoting the scientific qualification of the academic employees.

Candidates must have completed a master’s degree in Economics or a related discipline with outstanding grades. In addition, a PhD in a relevant field is required. We expect very good knowledge of theoretical and empirical economic methods and excellent command of the English language. The successful candidate conducts research and teaching (teaching in German is not required) in the area of Industrial Organization or Competition Policy (broadly interpreted). More specifically, we expect the applicant to address research questions in (theoretical or applied) Industrial Organization, Competition Economics, Consumer Protection, or in International Economics from an Industrial-Organization perspective.

At Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf, appointments may also be part-time, provided there are no overriding administrative reasons in individual cases for requiring full-time employment. The exact salary will depend on the personal qualification of the applicant up to EG 13 TV-L.

Heinrich-Heine-University Düsseldorf is an equal opportunity employer. Applications from women are expressly welcome. Women with comparable qualifications will receive particular consideration unless another applicant displays compelling reasons that make them preferable.

Applications from suitably qualified severely disabled persons or disabled persons regarded as being of equal status according to Book IX of the German Social Legal Code (SGB – Sozialgesetzbuch) are encouraged.

Interviews will be conducted at the EEA Job Market Meeting, Rotterdam, Netherlands, 18-19 Dec 2019, or via video-telephony.
