Department of Finance

The Department of Finance is one of the top finance departments in Europe. The department hosts a diverse group of scholars who have reached international reputation in key areas of current research, including empirical asset pricing, banking, corporate governance, entrepreneurial finance, financial regulation, financial history, law and economics, private equity, financial econometrics, market micro structure, pension finance, international finance, and credit derivatives.

The department offers high quality education at the undergraduate, graduate and executive levels. Specifically, at Tilburg University the department teaches in the Bsc Business Economics, the Bsc International Business Administration, the Bsc Entrepreneurship and Business Innovation, the Msc Finance, and the Research Master in Finance.

The position

The Department of Finance at Tilburg School of Economics and Management (TiSEM) is seeking applications for the position of lecturer. The contract period is negotiable, but between two to five years. Tasks of the lecturer position include teaching of BSc and MSc courses in finance, thesis supervision, and minor administrative tasks.

Profile

Applicants must have (or are close to obtaining) a PhD degree in finance or a closely related field in business. Good command of the English language is a prerequisite. We look for candidates that have a strong interest in teaching at an academic level, with proven experience in teaching finance or related fields.

Employment terms and conditions

For a full-time position the salary, depending on education, age and relevant experience is at most € 5.127 gross per month (according to salary scale 11 of the Collective Labour Agreement, UFO profile: Docent/Lecturer level 3). The start of the employment is negotiable, preferably September 2021. The lecturer position is a temporary contract for a period of two to five years. In case of excellent performance and sufficient financial means within the finance department, the candidate may be offered a permanent contract after those years.

Tilburg University is rated among the top of Dutch employers and has excellent terms of employment, such as a holiday allowance of 8% and an end-of-year bonus of 8.3% (annually), 41 days of leave per year for a fulltime contract and reimbursement of moving expenses. The university also offers the opportunity to influence your working conditions individually partly through a tax-friendly Options model (Keuzemodel Arbeidsvoorwaarden). Candidates from outside the Netherlands may qualify for a tax-free allowance equal to 30% of their taxable salary. The university will apply for such an allowance on their behalf. The collective labor agreement of the Dutch Universities applies.
